U.S. buildings traditionally keep a lower environmental standard in comparison to buildings in the Nordic countries. Nevertheless, the market is changing and green building is currently a strongly increasing industry, in spite of the struggling economy. This trend is partly driven by the new administration, and partly by important industry organizations and the industry. The value of the U.S. green building industry is today 5 percent of the total U.S. construction industry which has a total value of USD 1100 Billion and the green building sector is expected to double or triple from 2008 to 2013.
